Congratulatory Message from FUTOAA National Vice President

 Great FUTOites!

It is with deep sense of joy that I extend this congratulatory message to the entire members of FUTO Alumni, Lagos Chapter for a successful conduct of the just concluded elections. This, interestingly, marks the successful transition we all desire. The smooth conduct of the elections and transparent process speaks volumes about maturity of our members and our collective determination to advance the course of the Alumni Association and that of our great Alma Mater. This is an election that was keenly contested. Going by the way members expressed themselves through their votes and the civil conduct of all, it is pertinent to say congratulations to all Lagos Chapter members.

I congratulate the newly elected executive members led by Kingsley Ukwuoma. All contestants showed great vigour. I am confident that the new team will leverage on this and produce great results.

We must also recognize the hard work of the outgoing executive team led by Collins Opara. The immense contributions of this team stands out. This team has done great to create enabling environment for a new team to emerge with no hitches.

We thank all the elders who were in attendance. The presence of our elders demonstrates that they give their full support to our elected executive members: both to the outgoing and incoming. Support of elders means a lot. We thank all our young members that trouped out en masse to exercise their franchise. Together we achieve a great deal.

Thanks to the electoral committee led by Engr Dr. Ben Ekwueme for sticking to the rules and ensuring that a conclusive election is achieved. We recognize the courage and experience demonstrated by A. K. Chikwendu in carrying out his duties in the electoral committee. Special thanks to Engr Michael Amaku; he demonstrated great passion for the Alumni and persevered until all ballots were counted and results announced. In all, every member of the committee worked and they did a good job.

Great FUTOites, one of the lessons learnt in the overall process is that we must embrace technology. We must use technology to drive our processes. We need to go digital. Use of manual register and manual counting of votes are outdated. Use of online register is the way forward. The Alumni Information Management System, AIMS, is the answer. Very soon it will be very difficult for one to prove that he/she is a member if his/her name is not in the AIMS. Please click on the url below, create an account to register. If you are already registered, click on the url, log on and pay your dues and be a financial member.

I line with our constitution, the Chairman and Secretary will join the National Executive Council, NEC, of our highly esteemed Association. I am confident that they will lead Lagos Chapter to continue partnering with NEC in addressing issues that of common interest to all graduates of FUTO.

Thank you all as we all join hands to build a great Association.
