How to Learn from Others' Success and Accelerate Your Own Growth

Image
Have you ever felt a pang of jealousy or a moment of silent admiration when a friend or colleague achieved something great? It’s a common human reaction, but it can be a major roadblock to your own personal and professional growth. We often view someone else's success as competition rather than a signpost for our own potential. This mindset keeps us from the very lessons and blessings we need to grow. The truth is, the success of one person isn't a threat—it's a blueprint. The Difference Between a True Friend and a Competitor A true friend doesn't compete with your progress; they celebrate it genuinely. This distinction is the foundation of a healthy relationship and the key to unlocking your own potential. Growth truly multiplies when there is genuine respect for the results of others. Sadly, many people admire success silently but refuse to learn from it. We downplay results instead of drawing lessons from them, believing that every success story is unique and unat...

WE NOW IMPORT PALM OIL!!

Image
NIGERIA - PALM OIL ... The future of this country breeds nothing but uncertainty, anxiety, and a blurry tomorrow with heavy doubt about a Better Tomorrow. Read this... From number one in the world to number 5, this is saddening! According to a report published by the Punch Newspaper, Nigeria imported 234,324 metric tonnes of palm oil between January and September 2023, up from 141,786 MT in the corresponding period of 2022, indicating an increase of 92,538 MT. When I saw this report that Nigerian imports of palm oil from Malaysia have increased to 65.3%, I couldn't wrap my head around this report. I was sad for so many reasons. Why on earth should we be importing common palm instead of exporting it? What happened to the local production? Why are we not producing enough to meet the demand? Above are the numerous questions that the government should answer. But as a citizen or someone who has been in the entrepreneurship ecosystem and has been following the trends, you understand be...

What does it mean to be covered by the blood of Jesus?

"Pastor, what does it mean to be covered by the blood of Jesus?" The average believer would translate that statement as "protection by the blood of Jesus". As much as I'd like to discredit that translation, I'd rather focus on explaining what it really means to be covered by the blood.  First, we understand from the scriptures that blood has a voice in the realm of the spirit. When Cain unjustly killed his brother, Abel, God told Cain that his brother's blood was crying to Him for vengeance. And God had to avenge Abel.  Just as the law court judges a matter by human witnesses, part of the witnesses that God uses to judge matters on earth is blood. Let's see how the scriptures put it: 1 John 5: 8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. Did you see that? It's impossible for those three things to bear false witness. For instance, we're told from the scriptures that ...

TO ALL NIGERIAN VOTERS - PETER OBI

Image
Fellow Nigerians, it's 3 days to go and in my quiet moments, I know that Nigerians are wondering what Peter Obi is thinking. I will share my thoughts here because I have Nigeria on my mind!  We are currently at a crossroads. We need a leader to show us the way forward. We need a prudent president, a principled president who has what it takes to lead. As we say in Naija: “We need a person who sabi road; a person we go follow to make this country better.” A new Nigeria is possible. We can make it. We have national elections coming up next Saturday, the 25th of February 2023. The presidential election is the most critical because we will be electing the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It is the only chance to elect a leader of our choice. We must choose someone who can solve our problems.  This is an essential and existential election. It is a make-or-break moment in our history. Future generations will not forgive us if we make a wrong choice. The person of yo...

What is the difference between making declarations and praying?

Image
"Pastor, what is the difference between making declarations and praying?" Yesterday I briefly talked about 3 ways to apply God's word to your life, which are Actions in obedience, Declarations of faith, and Prayer. But from your question, I'm sensing that section was too brief to be understood. So, let me take the explanation a little further: 1. Actions in obedience Most scriptures would often leave you with a responsibility. And until your part is played, God is not committed. For instance, Malachi says we should bring all our tithe into God's house and God would open the windows of heaven and pour down a blessing. God's part is to pour down a blessing, while yours is to bring the tithe. It doesn't require any declaration or prayer. And that means it would be foolishness to be declaring that your tithe is paid or praying that God will pay your tithe when you've withheld the tithe. Isaiah 12:3 says, "Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out o...

Why everything around your life is slow

Image
"Pastor, why is everything around my life slow?" I may not be able to give an exact answer to that, but let me show you 2 keys that will add speed to your life. Ready? 1. The Word of God Hebrews 4: 12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. One of the things I've come to understand about the scriptures is that as much as it should be read and understood based on its context, every single verse, every single sentence, every single clause, and every single phrase has potential energy. This means that the Holy Spirit can light up just any part of scriptures to bring light to a situation. I've read Hebrews 4:12 many times but it just occurred to me that God's word is "quick". That's right, it can deal with slow motion in your life. If you feel your business isn'...

Pastor, how do I become a better Christian? - Emeka Anslem

Image
Simple... Proverbs 23:23 gives a perfect answer. It says, "Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding". So yes, buy the truth, buy wisdom, buy instruction, buy understanding. Don't wait for someone to spoon feed you with everything your destiny needs to succeed, make daily efforts to search the scriptures for yourself. Unfortunately, many Christians are Sunday-Service believers, all they know about Jesus is what their pastor taught on Sundays. If all you know are things your pastor taught you, then you haven't started your Christian walk. I Sometimes get irritated when I hear Christians say, "My pastor said... My pastor said...", especially when what their pastor said is in the Bible. Why couldn't they just quote the Bible? Your pastor's teaching should start you off, not put you off. If your pastor's teaching doesn't create an hunger within you to engage in a personal search, then you might need to look f...

Peter Obi’s acceptance speech as labour candidate

Image
Let Us Return Nigeria to Their Rightful Owners I thank Nigerians; especially members of the Labour Party who have gathered here since yesterday to partake in the primaries to choose the person that will fly Labour flag in the forthcoming National election to choose the President of Nigeria. History beckons. Nigerians remain hopeful for a national rebirth, which implies returning Nigeria to Nigerians –   farmers, teachers and students, lecturers, artisans, workers, pensioners and over a hundred million poor Nigerians who are not sure where their next meal will come from. Therefore, what you are doing today is a patriotic duty towards seeking the desired political emancipation of our dear country, which stands wounded by many years of cumulative leadership failure.    Painfully, our current dysfunctional system rewards unearned income and conspicuous consumption; allows university lecturers to remain on strike for months; keep our youths at home; and owe pension...

Pastor, my husband pretended to be a good man just for me to marry him. But since we married, he's been a completely different person. What do I do?

Image
"Pastor, my husband pretended to be a good man just for me to marry him. But since we married, he's been a completely different person. What do I do?" That's a lot to take in, but hey, pretence has a limit, you must have noticed something odd before you tied the knot with him. Now you came to a pastor for help, but did you seek a pastor's counsel before you married him? Many young ladies jump into marriage emotionally, and that's why changes in marriage seem sudden and surprising to them. Courtship was designed for determining compatibility. But the greatest mistake couples have made is that they think that courtship is between 2 people, which means the man and the woman. But no, courtship is like a court session, it's between more than 2 people; the judge, the counselor, the jury, the witnesses, the public and press. While God stands as Judge to give the final verdict, the counselors would be your pastor or marriage counselor, they'd ask critical qu...

Pastor, I mistakenly sold my birthright. What do I do to recover it? - Emeka Anslem

Image
"Pastor, I mistakenly sold my birthright. What do I do to recover it? Simple, do what Esau did. Our perception of Esau over the years hasn't really been helpful to the body of Christ. There's really no difference between what Esau did and what many Christians do daily. Each time a Christian committed fornication, he sold his birthright. That's right, that lie you told just to cover your shame was an unconscious trade of your birthright. You cheated someone just yesterday because of your greed, and while you're thinking that you now have all the gain to yourself, you lost your birthright. Salvation gives us a new birth experience with a new right, but each time we sin, we unknowingly sell our birthright. Like Jacob, Satan wants to have a right to what should be your right, and just as Esau traded his birthright with pottage, Christians trade their birthright daily by the pleasures of sin. The last time I checked, the wages of sin has not changed, it's still de...
